Hello Robinson Families!
My name is Kellene Hilliard and this is my second year teaching art with Grand Haven Area Public Schools. I earned my first Bachelor's degree from Central Michigan Univeristy in 2012 studying 2D Art and Psychology. After working for Wichita State University, I returned to CMU to complete my K-12 Visual Arts Teaching certification and graduated in December 2014. I completed my student teaching at Spring Lake High School and my first teaching job was with Troy School District. I grew up on the West side of the state in Muskegon, MI. I love spending time outdoors camping, hiking, boating, and enjoying the Lake Michigan shoreline in the summer and autumn months! In my free time I also enjoy making my own artwork, writing, photography, gardening, baking, and spending time with my family and retired racing greyhounds Tucker, Parker, and Sadie! I believe that art plays an integral role in every childs education. Children in my classroom are encouraged to take risks and explore their creativity- there is no such thing as "failure" in the art room if we try our best and take a chance! I think that art can be used as a tool for understanding other subject areas as well as the world around us! I am passionate about introducing students to integrated learning experiences, creativity, innovation, and service-learning focused art! Thank you for taking the time to visit our art page and I look forward to an amazing school year! |
